Beginners Youth Fencing Class

Service Description

This beginners' youth fencing class is great for fencers who completed the Intro class, mastered all the basics skills and ready to move on to the next level. One may expect to spend 3-6 months in this class to master all the necessary skills to move up to the intermediate level. It will depend on the child and how fast they learn. Our fencers will continue strengthening previously learned skills, while introduced to some new ones: - Proper fencing position - Holding weapon - Foundation of basic footwork - Target work - The program also includes eye-hand coordination drills, learning the basic attacks and parries (blocks), and the basic rules of fencing. - Partner work and fencing bouts - Rules Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30 - 5:30 PM Cost: $200/month (total 8 classes) Bundle: 2 group classes + weekly private lessons (total 8 group classes and 4 private lessons a month): $360 Required for the class: - Please bring a personal water bottle - Must wear athletic attire (t-shirt, long pants, athletic shoes) NOTE: Please NO dresses, skirts, flip-flops, sandals, boots, heels, or jeans. - All long hair must be secured with hair tight/accessories to keep face and eyes open - After the trial period of 90 days, all students must register with the USA Fencing Association as non-competitive members (Access Membership). It is only $29 a year and is required by the USA Fencing insurance. Once registered, please send me your confirmation email with the member #. https://www.usafencing.org/membership Fencing equipment: - All new students get 60 days of FREE equipment rental. - After the 60 days, all the beginner fencers will be required to rent ($35/month) or buy beginner-level personal fencing gear.
